Liven It Up!: The Wailin' Jenny's - One Voice (2006)

Did somebody say harmonies? Well, I have just what you're looking for.

This is Canadian music group The Wailin' Jenny's, and oddly enough, none of these girls are named Jenny lol. The group is made up of members Ruth Moody, Nicky Mehta and (in this video clip) Annabelle Chvostek who replaced original vocalist Cara Luft and eventually left the group in 2007 and was replaced by Heather Masse. The group got it's name from the guitar store owner that formed them as a group for a one time joint performance back in 2002, it seems the performance went so well, that the owner told them they should go on tour and call themselves "The Wailin' Jenny's" which was a pun on country singer Waylon Jennings' name.

The group has released 3 studio albums since 2004 and they are known for their lush 3 part harmonies and stunning rootsy folk sensibilities. This track shown above is the first song on their debut album "40 Days" (which is how long it took them to record the album).

Personally I find everything they do to be pitch perfect and absolutely stunning. If you like what you hear above, you should definitely invest in more of their music, I promise you, you will not be disappointed. Mind blowingly good, this won't be my last post about them, Trust!

"This is the sound of all of us Singing with love and the will to trust Leave the rest behind it will turn to dust This is the sound of all of us"
