Turn It Up!: Shanice - I Love Your Smile (Music Video)
While I'm in a 90's frame of mind, and because it's her 40th Birthday today, I'm adding Shanice's 1991 classic "I Love Your Smile"!
A one-time regular on the show Kids Incorporated (which turned out stars like Martika, Fergie, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Mario Lopez), Shanice started her music recording career at the age of 14 when she released her 1987 debut album "Discovery". The album sold moderately well and produced 2 top 10 R&B hits, but her major label success came in 1991 when she switched record company's and released her first Motown Records album "Inner Child". This album went on to reach #13 on the Billboard R&B chart and it's lead single (seen above) peaked at #2 on the Billboard Pop Charts and #1 on the R&B charts. Other releases include 1994's "21...Ways To Grow" and 1999's "Shanice"!
Shanice is still recording music, her most recent release was 2006's "Every Woman Dreams", and on top of doing various songs for soundtracks like "Boomerang", "Pocahontas" and "Bevery Hills, 90210", she can also occasionally be heard singing back up on various artists albums (she sang back up on Toni Braxton's classic Unbreak My Heart, and Usher's Bedtime, just to name a few).
She is rumored to be working on a new album to be released sometime this year (only a rumor though).
Fun Fact: Did you know that Shanice was the first African American woman to perform the role of Eponine in Les Misérables on Broadway?
PS. Isn't this the cutest video?
